Shared Confusion*

Since Friday it is official: I am confused. About my working space. About curation. About art. About politics… So as my contribution for the welcome presentation of bangaloREsidency, I shared my struggle and would like you to heartily invite you all to participate. But first, listen:)

#IamGauri

…such a sad day to share my thoughts of discovering BANGALORE. I am very numbed with the news of the killing of Gauri Lankesh yesterday evening and don`t have words for this hard attack on our worldwide freedom of speech. But let me just share one single observation – solidarity is a strong reality!

Just arrived: BANGALORESIDENT@JAAGA

Hey there, just arrived in Bangalore for my residency during September and October 2017 – about social dynamics in the interpersonal act of curating and share reflections on curating performing arts. Therefore I would like to go back to the original meaning of “curare” (taking care) and drift through the local art scene. Carried merely by an euphoric, open will to connect social dynamics and exchange empathy, trying to find and write a new global narration of criticism and/with/through love, collectively. So Bangalore, looking forward…

MettaCamp

I’ve been visiting Dharamshala regularly since 2006 when AirJaldi hosted a wireless networking conference there. I’ve made good friends along the way and feel connected to the community. The last couple of years we’ve basically moved all of Jaaga Study up to the mountains for April and May and have played a role in helping establish HillHacks.in as a geek retreat. Last year we ran CodeCamp from Ghoomakad. It was fantastic. This year Ayush and the crew at Ghoomakad are…

Ethereum Camp

One of the advantages of recent advances in technology is the reduction in labor and captial expense in getting new initiatives running. Accounting has long been a cumbersome process with peril if some one in the management chain is too busy to write checks to the right people, or if there is a disagreement about the terms and timings of when payments should be made. We are entering an age of smart contracts that may automate much of this risk…

CyberScouts in The Singularity

The Singularity will give a chance for the sub communities within Jaaga Study to flourish. So far I’ve been writing about how software bootcamps might work in this environment. CyberScouts has become another core component of our world here, and I would like to make space for it to grow in The Singularity. At Jaaga Study I have mostly been using students of the web development bootcamp to run our community outreach program, as well as to help with our…

Study camps at Jaaga

The Singularity is where Burningman Style camping meets software bootcamp dedication to learning new technology. Theme camps really make Burningman happen. Camps provide the tight knit community of people who really share the experience. Working together people in camps create much more amazingness than individuals could alone. Burningman selects for this. They craft the Burningman experience by curating and placing camps that promise to share with the whole Burningman community. A number of rituals and traditions have helped establish the…

GLEXP

Working on GLEXP has really pushed us in a positive direction. Our idea was to put tablets with world class education content on them in front of kids in the communities we live in. This would be valuable on its own, and it would give us context to understand what software we should develop for GLEXP. We saw that kids loved engaging with the tablets, and would happily spend 60 minutes plus plugging away at math problems if they didn’t…
